Visa and Entry Requirements
Entering Uganda has never been easier than today, there's no complications in entry requirements as long you have your credentials and a few of the following vaccinations (most of which are optional), but for the yellow fever is a must!
All persons intending to come to Uganda for #holiday, #tourism, #business, #study, #visit, #medical are required to apply and obtain a visa online.
Uganda Tourist Visa:
The Ugandan government introduced an Electronic Visa Application system to apply for your Uganda Online Visa. We have outlined how to apply for the Uganda Online Visa in the simple steps below. The processing time can take up to seven days, so please plan accordingly.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Visit the Uganda Online Visa site at www.visas.immigration.go.ug
- Click Start a New Application.
- Choose Permit Type ‘Visa’.
- Select your Category:
- Ordinary if you are visiting Uganda only.
- Single East African if you are visiting Uganda, Rwanda and/or Kenya on your trip. Please note Uganda should be your first of these three East Africa countries visited, otherwise you would apply to the country you first enter.
- Choose Subcategory ‘Single Entry’ for Ordinary Visa or ‘Single East African’ for Single East African Visa.
- Fill out your personal information as required including passport details.
- Enter the contact details for your Uganda contact (provided us or your tour operator
- Choose Purpose of Visit ‘Tourism’ and enter the date you arrive in Uganda.
- Choose Port of Entry to be provided by provided us or your tour operator and your length of stay in Uganda.
- Answer the following questions about your personal history and click ‘Next Step’.
- In order to complete the next page, you will need the following files to be uploaded:
- A scan or photo of the main page of your passport (with your name, date of birth and other information) – the bio data page.
- A passport sized digital photo.
- A copy of your travel itinerary in digital format which can be obtained from us or your tour operator.
- A scan or photo of your vaccination certificate or immunization record.
- Please note the maximum file size for documents in 250 kb.
- Check your application is correct and then click submit.
- Await a return email that will notify you of your approval (up to 7 days) so you can download and print your Visa Authorization letter.
- Bring the printed letter with you and present to the immigration officer at your point of entry into Uganda.
Requirements
A visitor is required to upload clear scanned copies of current passport, Yellow fever certificate and Passport photo! The charges for Uganda's Visa costs from US$ 50!
East Africa Tourist Visa:
The East Africa Tourist Visa will allow you travel between Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda with the same multiple entry visas. This visa is the result of a joint initiative made by the Heads of States of the respective partner countries to boost regional travel and create opportunities for tourists to explore the diversity of East Africa.
Travelers from any country can obtain a multiple entry visa that will allow entry to the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, and the Republic of Uganda for tourism over period of 90 days.
- Eligible Person: Tourist, no restrictions on country of origin
- Dependents: All persons must apply in their own right.
- Travel Documents: All tourists must have an official and genuine international passport, valid for not less than 6 months from the time of visa application.
- Visa Fees: 100 USD per visa
- Validity of Visa: 90 days
- Single of Multiple Entry: Multiple entry to all three countries
- Work or no Work: Work is not permitted
- Visa Extension: An East Africa Tourist Visa shall not be extended.
- Country of Entry: The holder of the East Africa Tourist Visa shall enter the region from the country that issued the visa and move within the two other countries without applying for another visa or paying another visa fee.
- Movement of persons: The holder shall also be allowed to move out of the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, and the Republic of Uganda and return without having to pay for another visa. This will only be applicable for the validity period of the visa (90 days from visa approval).

Visa Check List
- In order to qualify for a visa application, all intending travelers to Uganda must:
- Have a valid passport issued by your government.
- The passport must be valid past the date of your expected departure from Uganda.
You must have:
- An International Vaccination Certificate against Cholera (recommended, not required).
- An International Inoculation Certificate against Yellow Fever.
- You must obtain a Uganda Government VISA before entry into Uganda.
- To obtain a Uganda Government VISA the following are required:
- Fill out both sides of Visa Application Form “J”.
- Submit your passport and two (2) passport-size photographs
